
Established in 1882, the Adirondack Park consists of 6 million acres with 3,000 ponds and lakes, 2,000 miles of hiking trails and hundreds of miles of canoe routes, cross country ski and ATV trials. Designated as a "Forever Wild Forest Preserve" by the New York State Constitution, half of the land is owned by the people of New York State with the other half consisting of settlements, farms, timber land, businesses, homes and camps.
